Watch this video and remember the use of the verb:
SINGULAR     
            There is a ..../There's a ...... (affirmative).
                   There is not a...../There isn't a ...... (negative).
Is there a....? (interrogative).         
PLURAL
There are some..... (affirmative).
                                There are not any..../There aren't any ..... (negative). 
 Are there any....? (interrogative).
